LAUNCH: Clients + Cash and One Hell of a Party That You Can’t Miss

It’s time!

The OTHER announcement that I’d like to make, is that I’ll be hosting an official online TMFproject party Tuesday night, from 6-8pm PST / 9-11pm EST!
Originally I planned on live streaming during three separate occasions during the day as well, but guess what? I’m scraping that. Mostly because I want to be on-call to make sure the launch goes smoothly behind the scenes, but also because I fully expect you to show up to the party with a cocktail in hand, and you can’t do that during the day.
At that time (which will be 3-5am here in Spain!), you can just go to www.themiddlefingerproject.org, and right there you’ll be able to access the live stream. You’ll see me on the screen, and I’ll be able to pull you up on video to have a laugh together and chat. You’ll also be able to interact with one another in a chat box below, AND there’s a spot for streaming tweets as well. That said, the official hashtag for the TMFproject party is, profoundly enough, #TMFparty. So if you want to chat it up, include that hashtag with your tweets!
I’ll be there dressed to the nines with cocktail in hand and music bumpin’, and I welcome you to come hang out and bring your beverage of choice! If this weren’t an online party, I’d host an open bar…but since it’s virtual, this time it will just have to be BYOB.

The Spanish Pilot
2-3 oz Light Rum (Let’s be honest, this should really be 6-8oz)
Juice of 1 Lime (1 oz)
2 tsp Sugar
2-4 Mint Sprigs
Soda Water
Blending Instructions:
Thrash around the mint and sugar with a splash of soda water in a mixing glass until the sugar dissolves and you smell the mint
Squeeze the lime into the glass, add rum and shake with ice
Strain over cracked ice in a highball highroller glass
Top with soda water, garnish with mint sprig and serve to yourself over and over again
***Also known to the commonfolk as a mojito. Selected by TMFproject as her drink of choice–mostly because it’s all she drank when living in both Costa Rica and Chile, and now in Spain, so clearly it holds a special place in her heart. Wondering who the hell I am to teach this course?
In my former corporate life, for years my sole job was to get more clients, and I was wildly good at it.
I started my career in marketing, and began by working one-on-one with a high-level marketing consultant to take a medium-sized business in the Philadelphia area and expand into new markets, boosting brand awareness, sales and, ultimately, profitability. That was where my love for this game began. I would go into the office on weekends just because I was that excited about what we were doing and how we were making it all happen.
Eventually, I transitioned into a B2B sales role for that same company, calling on Fortune 500 companies and top-level executives, and, as it turns out, I was pretty damn good at it.
Much later, I was brought onto an international online and print multimedia company and quickly became one of their top account executives across the nation selling advertising. I had a reputation for getting contracts signed on first meeting, which was nearly unheard of in my industry. But, of course, I had a few tricks up my sleeve, and we’ll be talking about those and more during the course.
However, despite my success, I grew tired of feeling like my only role in this world was to make big companies lots of money—since that’s exactly what I was doing. I wanted something more meaningful, and I also desired freedom—I had always had the travel bug, and dreamed of running my own company remotely.
I had always stayed in touch with the marketing consultant from my early days, and so when I made the decision to go solo and set up my own marketing + copywriting business, I called on him for help. I saw how he did it—he lived in the Florida Keys at the time, spending his afternoons out on his boat, mixing up margaritas for friends and working in the mornings. I wanted that.
So, that’s exactly what I did.
My earliest clients in were in the software industry, and I quickly built up a reputation. The problem, however, wasn’t a lack of clients—it was that I wasn’t enjoying the type of writing and consulting I was doing. First of all, it was all very technical and dry, and second of all, I wasn’t really leveraging my love of the web. So I later decided to switch gears and re-brand myself as the witty copywriter for companies who didn’t want to be boring. And wouldn’t you know? I never had more fun in my life. Or more clients.
Since, I launched The Middle Finger Project in 2009, and I’ve never once had to go client hunting—for copywriting or for consulting or for any other products I’ve built on the site. Through a combination of smart strategy and laser sharp focus, I’m now where I am, living my dream of working remotely from anywhere in the world, making more money than ever.
And it feels good!
And gosh! I didn’t even mention the online business I ran in 2008-2009 called Blancura Extrema, where I exported dental products (yes, dental products) to South America. The company was all automated by leveraging technology and the internet, and I didn’t have to lift a finger. Ultimately, though, I wasn’t happy with that because I didn’t like having to charge exorbitant amounts of money in order to make it worth my while and turn a profit…to people making $600 a month or less. It didn’t feel right. So I shut it down.
So, yes. My life to date has centered around getting clients, making money and using the web to do so. And with my new course, Clients + Cash, that’s exactly what I intend to help you do, too.
