So can we now put this in our IG profile? “BFF with Jenny and Donnie.” I mean, that's what this feels like. I'm going on the motherf*cking Jenny McCarthy show! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Bananas, am I right? That's how I felt when I was at CBS Studios in NYC on the day of the book launch. And also how I felt when I was doing pre-interviews with The Today Show! (I KNOW. There's been so much going on behind the scenes!) It's the most surreal thing ever, and I usually end up feeling very “lucky.” Except I'm experienced enough to know, by now, that it has nothing to do with luck, and everything to do with YOUR FORTY-FIVE.

That's right. That's what I call it. I call it “Your Forty-Five,” and what I'm referring to is your angle. Because holy dirty martini, these kinds of huge publicity opportunities don't *actually* happen because you're a genius who's out there changing the world. They happen because—shhhhhhhh—you've found the right forty-five. The right angle to present your work.

This is one of the most underrated secret weapons in the world.

What you do doesn't matter half as much as how you present what you do. Which, by the way, is why you don't have to worry that you're “just another photographer / coach / designer / artist.” It doesn't matter what you do: what matters is what you say about it.

One of the people who coached me on this, starting several months back when we first started talking publicity for the book, was my friend and well-known publicity expert, Selena Soo. (Um, Selena freaking went out about bought SEVENTY copies of the book, by the way, and gave them away to her audience—isn't that so nice?!) (Dare you to casually forward this to your BFF and be all, hey I'm selling this thing now, hint hint. ?)

So her and I were talking about publicity and I was like: Selena, this is Golden Goose, what if we did a series for my audience where I shared with them what I'm learning about publicity as we go? Could you contribute? And she was like, “Um, do you one better: send them my publicity checklist for figuring out their Forty-Five!”

Except she didn't use the term “Forty-Five” since it's just something that I made up and use in my own head. But that's exactly what she gave me: seven steps to figuring out your angle and how you can use it to get yourself mad publicity—like, ohhhhh, I don't know, being invited onto THE JENNY MCCARTHY SHOW.

So let's do all the things, shall we?!?!

Download Selena's Publicity Checklist to play with this weekend! It helps you figure out the right angle to pitch, which stories the media would KILL to get their hands on, what will help the media take you seriously (hint: there are 17 credibility factors), how to be seen as an authority, how to use your personal story to bolster it all, and which assets you need (like a media kit) and how to gear them toward a media professional. (Not your client.)

Mark your calendar for Monday and come root me on live on Sirius XM at 11:20am ET—or listen for the replay at 8pm ET over on Soundcloud. ?

I'm so pumped!

We're out here doin' it and doin' it and doin' it wilddddddd.

Happy weekend, you feisty freak of genius!

Loooooove,

Ash
